Turning Point - Reconnect Program
Personalised programs created to bring about decisive and lasting change
This residential well-being program in English is designed to help you find new direction and awareness from a wide range of self defeating and self limiting issues. The program is based in the stunning foothills of the Serra Do Caldeirao 60km north of Faro in Southern Portugal where the nature and animals support and deepen your healing experience.
Our aim is to bring about a decisive change in your life so that you can come back to centre. We help you to do this by transforming your old ideas and beliefs for new ones which you create to have a happy life with more inner space, peace. connection and abundance.
The focus is to provide a new embodied experience that brings about lasting change and develops the resources you need in your daily life to move on from old self-limiting ideas and wounds from the past . These wounds may be expressing themselves as depression, anxiety, past trauma flash backs, libido issues, co-dependancy, compulsive behaviours, substance abuse, poor relationships or a level of stress that is chronic and unsupportable. You may simply be fed up the way you feel and want to find a better way of living.

Safety and Trust working with our Protector - 29 September - 1 October
In the process of adjusting to life's painful events, and trauma, we are often met with internal disruptors or antagonists. At one point, they serve as a functional adjustment to protect us and help us survive. Unfortunately, as we continue into adulthood, they become maladaptive. They interrupt and disrupt contact and growth.
This workshop will offer you an opportunity to explore different ways of developing contact and exploring the relationship with your antagonist or protector. The hope is to create a safe space to build a compassionate relationship with this antagonist and explore the protective yet destructive role they may have in your path of healing, through gestalt experiments, explorations and conscious movement.
The gathering is designed to be experiential, where each person can have their own journey into the core of the subject. Using these explorations we will work together to find our own deeper understanding and insights and come together to share and express these both as professions or non professionals working with people. The time together will be in a beautiful natural retreat environment in Southern Portugal about an hour north of Faro and two and a half hours south of Lisbon.
DETAILS ON THE APPROACH AND WORK FROM RAFAEL FOR THE WEEKEND
Utilizing the principles of the Compassionate/Relational Gestalt Trauma Model, this experimental workshop will support participants by co-creating a safe environment to make space for their own disruptors of contact.
The compassionate/relational trauma model is a series of moments of the therapeutic relationship to be aware of to promote opportunities for healing. In this model, the role of compassion is highlighted as an integral part of trauma processing. In this process of developing contact through a relational/compassionate lens, we are often met with internal disruptors or antagonists. They serve the purpose of protecting the individual but have become maladaptive. The goal of this workshop is to promote a functional relationship with this antagonist.
With a series of exercises and experiments utilizing a combination of Gestalt body processing, Polyvagal exercises, and compassionate/relational processing. The facilitator will support participants in exploring their ability to make and maintain contact with areas of the self that trigger uncomfortable emotional dissonance that have become antagonists in their story. Through this journey, the hope is to create a safe space to build a compassionate relationship with this antagonist and explore the protective yet destructive role they may have in the individual’s path.

Body and Soul
Finding Connection and Celebration through movement and dance.
Finding Connection and Celebration through movement and dance.
ABOUT BODY & SOUL
Our bodies instinctively know what feels right or wrong, good or bad, yet we are often ignore these messages due to trauma, social conditioning, busy-ness and many other reasons. Being less able to tune in and respond to our body’s wisdom disconnects us from the truth and validity of own personal experience, makes authentic connection challenging and often separates us from others. In short, our society and lifestyles are driven and led by our heads and the body merely becomes the “brain taxi”.
We are wired for pleasure, yet this is only possible when we feel safe. The vagus nerve is the main nerve that informs us as to whether we are safe and is constantly scanning our environment and those around us to this effect. Using somatic experiencing we can tune into this “soul nerve”, bring awareness to our conditioned responses and learn to self and up regulate our emotional reactions. And through movement and dance we will reconnect with what feels good and right for ourselves. And then consciously move towards finding more joy, peace and Love within our lives yet without excluding any grief or sadness. By asking ourselves “does this feel right or that?” or “what happens when I move like this?” we can rebuild sensations of safety and trust within our own internal systems and grow our capacity to give and receive pleasure in all its forms.
How does your body want to move? What does your Soul wish to experience? By quietening the endless chatter of the mind and deepening our intuitive listening to our body we can learn to choose - what more would I like to feel? More joy? More freedom, connection, trust, coherence? More flow and celebration? Come join us and find out – the floor is yours.
Each session will involve a welcome introduction to the theme and check in, a session on somatic movement for self-regulation, time for some feedback and sharing then a movement dance session. We will end with time for you to settle, process and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
