Essential Movement PracticeConscious Movement PracticeThe core concepts of Essential Movement Practice are to be embodying the spirit of being Open, Flowing, Empty, Loose and Natural. The physiology can begin to change and calm down. A rewiring of our nervous system takes place through a guided movement practice where the body can get in touch with the signals that essential awareness practice shows us.
Conscious movement practice is aimed at joyfully liberating the mind body from negativity and UP regulating the nervous system. Here are my thoughts on the different aspects of Essential Movement Practice. Open to life and saying "yes to life" and what it is bringing to us on our journey. Open in our dance keeping the body free and easy in its movements this allows energy to move and for us to examine where we may be stuck. Flowing with life and not resisting life and letting everything move and express its self through our bodies. At the same time Empty of thoughts, desires and control. Empty in our dance is to let the dance become the creator of our movements while the mind is empty, free, unattached and open. Simply observing the gaps between changes in our movements. As in meditation we watch the gaps in our thoughts and feel the space knowing that the space between them is the real essence of our nature. Watching as one movement changes into another. We remain Loose and relaxed with no pressure and above all Natural. In life we are natural when we are free from conditioning from our box of confined and defined ideas and thinking. Natural in our very nature as we let go of any goals to achieve or to obtain and allow our dance to become our awareness therapy. |
Open Floor Dance PracticeI trained as an Open Floor movement practice teacher and incorporate the underlying therapeutic ideas into my coaching work. Open Floor is a conscious movement practice that has its roots in Gestalt psychotherapy. It can be used as a what to express and interpret feelings that are beyond words that find their way into the body's natural expressions and rhythm. My Conscious movement classes can be thematic based on some kind of transformative idea or just a way to enjoy moving and including whatever is going on either your own or together with a group of dancers. I have always found that an Open Floor class energises and inspires me to move how ever resistant I may be at the beginning.
